Thank you for always saying what’s in my heart. I’ve been seeing the whole push for “embracing ugly” on tumblr and I gotta say, like many things, it fails to take into account any other experience but that of white people. The POC have to live with a different reality when it comes to beauty and that’s that. We deal with the painful knowledge that there’s a institutional hierarchy out there that will never see us as coming out on top. Much love to my POC—I see you and ugly is so not the word.
